Reggae Rajahs are a crew of DJs and MCs who focus on promoting dub, roots reggae and dancehall music. Formed in 2009, the group has dedicated itself to spreading the sounds of the Caribbean across India and the world. Reggae Rajahs have opened for Snoop Dogg, Major Lazer, Shaggy, UB40, and have also shared the stage with a number of established international artists. They have toured across Europe, South America and South East Asia in recent years. They host an international reggae festival every year called Goa Sunsplash, and are also key part of the hand built 10,000 Lions Sound System; one of two Jamaican style speaker systems in India.
The past few years have been monumental for Reggae Rajahs. Apart from big festival performances at Sula Fest, VH1 Supersonic and Taalbelia, Reggae Rajahs have been curating their own events all over the country. Working closely with venues in the major Indian cities, Reggae Rajahs have been promoting the artists and sounds that they love. In January 2020, Reggae Rajahs successfully organized the fifth edition of Goa Sunsplash, an international reggae festival which saw over 3000 people come together from all parts of the world. The festival included 3 music areas, live bands, food stalls and a flea market. As part of the team that built 10,000 Lions Sound System (a hand built Jamaican style sound system), the Rajahs have been also been pushing roots reggae and dub throughout the country. They have traveled with the sound system to the first All India Dub Conference in Pune, to play beach parties in Goa over New Years and then most recently to VH1 Supersonic where 10,000 Lions Sound System had it’s own stage.
